Antoine Banks-Sullivan

Dancer

ANTOINE BANKS-SULLIVAN was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He attended Whitney Young Magnet High School where he began dance training under the instruction of Lisa Johnson-Willingham at the age of 16. He has since trained with Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, Ballet Chicago, Joel Hall, and Central Florida Ballet. Since his first contract with Walt Disney Company, Antoine has danced with Busch Gardens Florida, Cleo Parker Robinson, High School Musical Live, Cirque Dreams, and Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater. In his free time Antoine enjoys cooking, party planning, and traveling the world. He would like to thank his friends and family, especially his loving mother and husband Thomas for their unending support. After three auditions, Antoine was thrilled to join Pilobolus in 2014.

Derion Loman

Dancer

DERION LOMAN was born in Fairfield, CA. His interest in dance came from his involvement in color guard, where he toured with the World Championship Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. Derion started dancing his sophomore year of college and graduated in 2012 with a BA in Psychology and a BFA in Dance from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Most recently, he was a pioneer member of BHdos, Ballet Hispanico’s Second Company, where he performed at a variety of events and venues including Symphony Space Theatre, The FBI, and The Presidential Inauguration. Derion would like to thank his colleagues, mentors, friends, family, and you – the audience – for allowing him to cultivate and share his artistry. This is his first season with Pilobolus.

Heather Jeane Favretto

Dancer/Dog Girl

HEATHER JEANE FAVRETTO grew up in New Jersey where her hyperactivity as a child drove her parents to place her in dance classes. Sixteen years later, she received her BFA in Dance from Rutgers University and was awarded the Dance Express Honor for four years of consistently outstanding choreography. Upon graduation she worked for Douglas Dunn and Dancers, Cleo Mack Dance Project, and Naganuma Dance. She first joined Pilobolus in 2010 to work on a musical adaptation of James and the Giant Peach at Goodspeed Operahouse. Other favorites with Pilobolus include: RadioLab LIVE! In The Dark, a collaboration with WNYC radio moguls (and personal heroes) Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich, and best of all Shadowland! She joined the cast in 2012 and has been having a blast ever since!

Jacob Michael Warren

Dancer

JACOB MICHAEL WARREN was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Boston, MA, where he began tap dancing. Tap gave way to ballet and modern dance, and in 2009, Jake graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a BFA in Dance. Since graduation, Jake has performed in New York and around the world with Armitage Gone! Dance, The Steps on Broadway Ensemble, and TAKE Dance. He has done multiple film, musical, and theatrical projects including “Wind & Tree,” a film by Abe Abraham, and “Promise,” an experimental theatre piece with Chris D’Amboise and Jed Bernstein. Jake is also a dedicated musician, and a founding member of “The Harmonica Lewinskies,” a NYC-based blues/rock band.

Justin Norris

Dancer

JUSTIN NORRIS was born and raised in Western Massachusetts and is a self-taught student of multimedia expressions ranging from graffiti, to fine art, to dance. His exploration of visual art started about sixteen years ago, when Norris began his experimentations in graffiti, and at the age of seventeen he found his love for movement and dance while attending the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts High School. Justin was introduced to Pilobolus in 2007 when he auditioned, and soon after he began to teach for the Pilobolus Education Programs and work with Pilobolus Creative Services. In 2009 he received the James Baldwin Scholarship to Hampshire College for visual art and began his more formal investigation into dance.  Justin is a recent college graduate and a freelance visual creator, think tank, and problem solver.

Klara Beyeler

Dancer

KLARA BEYELER comes from South West France. She started dancing at age 6 and has trained in many different styles, while gradually starting to teach and choreograph as well. At 21, she graduated with a degree in Philosophy and headed for New York City to study at the Broadway Dance Center. She quickly started to dance for Cecilia Marta, Battery Dance, Enforced Arch, Artichoke Dance, and Eva Dean Dance. She joined Pilobolus in 2013. Klara is grateful and excited to be a part of the Shadowland cast.

Krystal Butler

Dancer

KRYSTAL BUTLER began her dance training at age 13 at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC under the direction of Charles Augins. Butler moved to New York City and graduated from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. She has received scholarships and completed summer programs at the Ailey School, ADF, Earl Mosley Institute for the Arts and Arke’ Danza. Krystal was a member of INSPIRIT, a dance company and Forces of Nature Dance Theater. She has toured with the theater company, Art Creates Life in Senegal performing in the play, Junkanoo and in Europe in the show MAGNIFICO produced by Andre Heller. She has been a member of Pilobolus Shadowland since 2011 and will now begin her first year with Pilobolus Dance Theater. Krystal thanks her family and friends for all their love and support and a special thank you to her father, Andre. From her heart, EXPLORE.CREATE.CHANGE.

Marlon Feliz

Dancer

MARLON FELIZ was born the Dominican Republic and raised in Miami, FL, where she studied classical ballet and modern dance techniques at New World School of the Arts High School while exploring jazz, hip hop, and lyrical dance at a local studio. Marlon later graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography. There she had the pleasure of performing works by Aszure Barton, Sean Curran, and Renee Redding-Jones. She also trained at the Joffrey Ballet, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, and Northwest Dance Project. Marlon has since worked with H.T. Chen and Dancers, HumanKinetics Movement Arts, The Moving Beauty Series, and performed as a dancer/aerialist onboard Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas. Marlon is also a licensed MBD® yoga teacher. She thanks her family for supporting her passion for dance and life, and was thrilled to join the incredible Pilobolus family in 2014.

Nathaniel Buchsbaum

Dancer

NATHANIEL BUCHSBAUM was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and realized his love for movement while attending high school in Florida. He worked as a guest artist with the Tallahassee Ballet and in 2011 graduated from Florida State University with a BFA in Dance. Nathaniel has had the pleasure of working with Kinetic Architecture, Amalgamate Dance Company, Gerri Houlihan, Martha Clarke, and Doug Elkins. His choreography has been featured in the New Grounds Dance Festival and the Five By Five event in Tampa, Florida, and the Amalgamate Artist Series in New York. Nathaniel is honored to have joined Pilobolus’s Shadowland in 2012.

Sayer Mansfield

Dancer

SAYER MANSFIELD grew up north of Boston, Massachusetts and received her classical training with the Royal Academy of Dance, Boston Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet Schools. Sayer began her modern dance training in high school at Phillips Academy Andover, working and performing with the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Jose Limon Dance Company. Upon graduation, she moved to London to study at the Laban Conservatoire for Dance and also studied in Austria at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. Sayer graduated May of 2014 with her BFA in Dance from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and has been a member of the Indah Walsh Dance Company since 2012. Sayer is thrilled to join Pilobolus as their first female apprentice.

Shawn Fitzgerald Ahern

Dance Captain

SHAWN FITZGERALD AHERN grew up in Dublin, New Hampshire. He made his dancing debut at age three, enthusiastically jumping around on the living room couch in his tighty-whiteys to the sound of the B-52s. Since, he has studied in Austria and in the Granite State and graduated magna cum laude from Keene State College as a theatre and dance major under the mentorship of William Seigh. Shawn owes his passion for movement and for learning to his family, as well as the inspired instructors at KSC and the American Dance Festival. Shawn thanks you for sustaining the arts, and he thanks his family from the bottom of his heart for all of the unending support and love they bring into his life. Shawn joined Pilobolus in 2010.

Teo Spencer

Apprentice

TEO SPENCER, a Vermont native, studied at the University of San Martin in Argentina, where he specialized in aerial fabric. After completing his studies, Teo performed with Fuerza Bruta and Prix Dami. His credits include a performance for the president of Argentina and the award of Best Overall Performance at the Denver Aerial Arts Festival. Teo returned to North America with a passion for combining circus and dance and is excited to be this year’s male apprentice for Pilobolus.
